The various parts of the coconut have a number of culinary uses. Coconut water contains sugar, dietary fiber, proteins, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, and provides an isotonic electrolyte balance. It is consumed as a refreshing drink throughout the humid tropics and is gaining popularity as a sports drink. Mature fruits have significantly less liquid than young immature coconuts, barring spoilage. Coconut water can be fermented to produce coconut vinegar. The seed provides oil for frying, cooking, and making margarine. The white, fleshy part of the seed, the coconut meat, is used fresh or dried in cooking, especially in confections and desserts such as macaroons. Desiccated coconut or coconut milk made from it is frequently added to curries and other savory dishes. Coconut flour has also been developed for use in baking, to combat malnutrition.Coconut chips have been sold in the tourist regions of Hawaii and the Caribbean. 2 Bulb Caladium Fancy Leaf 'Candidum' | Angel Wings | Elephant's Ears | Malanga

A classic caladium with snow-white, heart-shaped leaves and dark green veins. Candidum is especially dazzling in deep shade and by moonlight when the leaves are almost luminous. For best results, grow this variety in full to partial shade.Caladiums are beautiful natives of the South American Rain Forests. With their brilliant colors in fascinating designs, & large heart-shaped leaves, they've become landscape favorites, especially since they are perfect for shaded areas. They're very easy to grow, but you must take care and remember that they are tropical. This means you can't plant your tubers until the ground has warmed up in spring. In the south, that means May. In the midwest and north, it means from mid-May until mid-June.Great for pots. The cold sensitivity of Caladiums is why they've become big favorites for pots, baskets, and patio planters. If you start them indoors, you can simply put the pots outside once your weather is warm. And in fall, the pots make everything simple. Once your first cold snap wilts the leaves in fall, simply bring your pots inside, let the tops die down, keep them as they are until spring, and put them out again. This is how many northern gardeners grow these beauties.Spectacular Ground Cover: Many gardeners use these colorful plants as a ground cover for shady areas. (Who says you can't have great color in the shade!) Caladiums around trees or in other shady areas have long been beautiful features of southern gardens, but this technique can work anywhere, as long as you don't put out your plants until your soil is good and warm.Fancy leaf caladiums require loose, slightly acidic soil for good root growth and are heavy feeders. Before planting, dig in plenty of peat or pine bark to take care of the first two requirements and add a good dose (1 tbs/plant) of 10-10-10 fertilizer. Plant your tubers 2 to 8 inches (5-20 cm.) apart, depending on size. A fancy leaf caladium’s tubers need warm, about 70 degrees F. (21 C.) soil to grow. If the soil is too cool, the bulbs tend to rot.In order to thrive, the soil conditions should mimic the soil that “angel wings” grow in their native environment; rich, moist, and well-draining. For the best results, mix a form of organic matter into the soil, such as compost. Tephrocactus Articulatus Papyracanthus (Paper Spine Cactus) | 4 Cuttings

Tephrocactus Articulatus var. Papyracanthus (Paper Spine Cactus) Segmented bushy succulents slowly grow up to up to 30 cm, it is the typical form of a group of variety.Stems: It develops in little pine-cone-shaped segments that are loosely attached to each other and fall easily.Spines: This species is very variable as to whether it is spine-bearing or not. The spiny form (also known as "papyracanthus") has broad, raffia like, conspicuous , flattened spines which are not spines but thin ribbon-like processes, and vary much as to their color, markings, and length. This variation is partly the cause of so many synonyms for the species.Flowers: Blooms are either white or yellow. The white flowers made a nice contrast to the earth-tone colors of the plant.Fruit: 1 to 5 cm long fruit is brown. Tephrocactus articulatus v. strobiliformis is an attractive brown color cactus that has globular-shaped sections with minimal spines. The sections look like small green pine cones. You are bidding on 4 pieces. It will be shipped bare root. Beware of the barbed spines. Use paper not gloves when handling. Sections fall off almost to the touch. Expect some sections to be separated upon arrival. These sections can be planted and rooted. Let it root before watering. Roots can be determined by slightly tugging on the plant and detecting resistance. These are cuttings. To get them rooted just lay them flat on the surface of the soil. They may start to curl like a potato chip, but whatever part of the pad touches the soil will take root. If you shove them into the soil standing them up they may rot before getting roots and new growth. Also, the pad may dry out and look like it's not going to make, but will miraculously send out new growth in the spring. Before roots and new growth appears it is recommended to keep water to a minimum, especially in cold weather.
