  • 50 Papalo Herb Seeds - (Porophyllum Ruderale) Aromatic - Seed World 50 Papalo Herb Seeds - (Porophyllum Ruderale) Aromatic - Seed World

Shipped from Athens, Georgia, USA 50 Papalo Herb Seeds - (Porophyllum Ruderale) Aromatic

Papalo Herb Seeds - (Porophyllum Ruderale) Aromatic Papalo is an ancient Mexican herb that was commonly used before cilantro was introduced by Chinese immigrants. Still used in much of traditional Mexican cooking. Unusual, piquant, fresh green leaves with a marvelously complex, distinctiveflavor for tacos, salsas, meats, and cheeses. Bunches of the herb are used as centerpieces in restaurants where diners pick the leaves to add to foods as desired. NOTE: Papalo is a naturally 'dirty' seed with a fair amount of debris mixed in. Untreated seed. AnnualGermination: 7-20 days, naturally low and variableSeed Planting Depth: Indoors- sow on the surface, lightly cover. Outdoors- sow 1/4" deep. Starting Indoors/Outdoors: For a head start, you can start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Provide 65-70 degrees soil temperatures. Transplant after last frost, 12-15" apart. Direct sow outdoors after the last frost, 12-15 seeds per foot. Light Needs: Sun Soil Needs: Average to fertileUses: Culinary, harvest leaves as needed Germination instructions:  Papalo is known to have low, erratic germination rates, often taking 3 weeks or more to germinate. My best results this year have been with seeds sown on the soil surface, and just enough fine soil sprinkled over them to keep them from blowing away, leaving part of the seed exposed. Then watered in & kept moist. Within 3 days 10% of the seeds sprouted, and 44% within 20 days. The germination rate after 3 months was 66%. Seeds that fall to the ground in the garden often take 6-7 months before they sprout naturally, so patience pays! Quantity: 50 Papalo Herb Seeds

50 Petunia Seeds - Containers Hanging Baskets Flowers - Annual Bloom

Genus: PetuniaPlant Type: FlowerLight: Full SunBloom Start to End: Early Summer - Late SummerHabit: CompactPlant Height: 8 in - 10 inBloom Size: 3.5 inDescription:Petunias are so reliable and have such a wide variety of uses that it’s no wonder it’s one of the most popular garden flowers today. It’s simple to buy a couple of petunia seedlings to fill one planter, but for mass plantings and garden edging, growing petunias from seed is the way to go. You’ll save money because of the sheer number of plants you need, plus you’ll have a much wider range of flowers to choose from. Garden centers only carry a few varieties already sprouted and growing, but you can find petunia flower seeds for different sized plants, in almost every color of the rainbowGrowing Petunias From Seeds:The most important point to remember when learning how to start petunias from seeds is that these are summer, heat-loving plants. It does them no good to plant them early in the garden, as they’ll just sit and sulk or rot. In order to get these seedlings to planting size at the right time, you need to start them indoors at least 10 weeks before planting time. In the north, this is around the first week of March and will be even earlier in more southern states.Although petunias are tough and resilient in the garden, they can be very delicate in the first weeks of life.Start out with a dedicated seed-starting soil mix and new or sterilized planting trays. Of course, you can also start them in eggshells for easier transplanting later.Sprinkle the tiny seeds on top of the mix and gently moisten them with a spray bottle.Cover the tray with plastic wrap to retain moisture and place it in a bright place out of direct sunlight that averages around 75 F. (24 C.). Remove the plastic wrap once the seeds sprout and place the trays under lights in a cooler spot, around 65 F. (18 C.) during the day.Keep the lights about 6 inches (15 cm.) above the tops of the plants.Use water-soluble fertilizer once every two weeks, and water the plants when the soil dries out.Transplant the seedlings into individual pots once they develop two or three true leaves.Lift out individual plants with a wooden stick or butter knife, and transplant them into potting soil.Keep the soil moist but well-drained, and return them to under the lights until it’s time to plant them outside.Additional Tips for Growing Petunias from Seed: When starting petunia seed plants, remember that the seeds are very tiny. It’s easy to over-plant the trays, ending up with dozens of seedlings you don’t need. Sprinkle them gently on top of the soil, using only a small pinch of seeds.Petunia seed propagation only happens when they get the right amount of light. Don’t bother to buy special plant-growing light. Regular fluorescent lights work just as well.Place the plants on a shelf and hang the light directly above them. Move the lights upward as the plants grow, always keeping the lights 6 inches above the leaves.

Purple Prickly Pear Cactus Seeds (Opuntia Violacea V. Santa Rita) Purple Prickly Pear Cactus Opuntia Santa-Rita is a bushy succulent shrub 2 m high and 3 m wide with a distinct, though short trunk. It is a very attractive species with reddish or violet-purple pads. Small plants seem to be the most colorful. The yellow flowers are stunning on the purple pads in spring, definitely an eye-catcher. Stem segments: Round, ovate, or obovate sometimes broader than long, not easily detached, 5-20 cm across, thin, nearly smooth, glabrous, glaucous blue-green, when under stress with reddish or violet-purple coloring around the areoles and along the edge; this coloring is more pronounced during winter. Areoles: 6-8(-9) per diagonal row across the mid-stem segment, oval to round, sometimes reniform, c. 3 mm in diameter when young, but increasing with age to about 6 mm, 1.5-2.5 cm apart. The new areoles bear a lot of wool and many short glochids up to 6 mm long. They are yellow to tannish brown in color dense in a crescent at the adaxial edge of areole, nearly encircling areoles, and in a subapical tuft, of even height. The growth of the wool and glochids on old stem pads sometimes produces an elongation of the areole structure outward. Spines: Not numerous, new stem segments often being spineless or with 1 spine present on only a few edge areoles. Older segments may have 2-3 spines in the upper areoles only. Spines are needle-like, deflexed to erect, straight or slightly curved, flexible, light reddish brown to pink with the upper parts yellowish or mottled with yellow, sometimes almost all black, 2-6.2(-10) cm long. Flowers: Yellow with bright red bases, 7.5-9(-10) cm in diameter. Inner tepals yellow throughout, fading orangish, 25-45 mm; filaments pale yellow throughout or pale yellow proximally, white distally; anthers pale yellow; style white; stigma lobes light green.

Purple Statice / Sea Lavender Limonium Sinuatum Flower Seeds Statice is a Mediterranean native herb that has been grown since the 17th century both for its lovely flowers and its medicinal properties. Statice is a favorite of florists because the lovely clusters of flowers last an extremely long time after they are cut. Limonium plants bear huge amounts of flowers that are sweetly fragrant. They can tolerate heat, dryness, & coastal conditions with ease, They grow quickly, so while they are not hardy in most zones, they are a very popular choice as an annual in cooler climates. They are also deer resistant.
