Abutilon Bellevue Mix Abutilon Hybridum is a large genus in the Mallow family. Also called Flowering Maple or Parlor Maple, Abutilon can be grown from seeds, and this popular group of hybrids is semi-tropical, frost-tender shrubs that typically grow 24-30 inches tall.
The Flowering Maple plants will bloom with showy flowers in brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow from spring until frost. The flowers are 3 inches in diameter with five overlapping petals.
Abutilon Bellevue Mix has lobed, maple-like, light green leaves that often can be white and yellow. Abutilon is grown as an annual plant in the garden or containers, but most often this flower is used as a houseplant if it is planted outside of zones 8-10. The container plants may be overwintered indoors as houseplants as long as they receive intense bright light and cool temperatures.
PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS Sow Indoors: Winter (6-8 weeks before the last frost) Sow Outdoors: Spring Seed Depth: Surface sowing Germination Time: 28-42 Days
I do not have an indoor garden so I am waiting until spring to plant. I will try planting closer to Feb or March in small pods watering with spray bottle, and slowly introduce the plants to outdoor conditions.
