Red salvia is a native Florida wildflower. It also occurs naturally throughout much of the southeastern United States.
It grows in full sun to part shade with average to moist soils, but not standing water. It will re-seed itself wherever it is planted as the seeds drop to the ground around the parent plant once they dry on the stalk.
