Upright color for sunny summer containers
Serena Blue angelonia lifts blue-violet flower spikes above neat green foliage, adding an upright accent to patio pots and sunny borders. Often called summer snapdragon, this seed-grown series is a useful choice for building a warm-season flower display.
Why grow Serena Blue?
- Vertical flower spikes complement low, spreading companion plants.
- A compact habit works in containers as well as garden beds.
- The Serena series can be grown from seed.
Plant details
Botanical name: Angelonia angustifolia, Serena Blue series
Life cycle: Tender perennial, commonly grown as an annual where winters freeze
Light: Full sun
Spacing: Approximately 8–10 inches
Growing from seed
Sow indoors before the outdoor growing season. Press seeds onto moist seed-starting mix and leave uncovered: light supports germination. Keep the mix moist and warm, around 71–76°F. Under suitable conditions, seedlings may emerge in about 5–10 days. After seedlings are established, provide bright light. Harden off and transplant once frost danger has passed and conditions are warm. Choose well-drained soil and water regularly while plants establish.
What's included
