Aster plants can be planted in any place there is well-drained, rich soil in a sunny location. If planting in warmer zones such as 7 - 8, you may consider using mulch with grass clippings or peat moss around root systems in mid-June to protect tender root systems from extreme heat.
Keep well watered in dry periods and remove faded blooms regularly to prevent disease and promote continue blooming.
Sow Aster flower seed indoors in early spring using a starter mix. Press flower seed into the soil and barely cover. Transplant into the garden 12 inches apart.
