Red Spider Lily Bulbs, Lycoris Radiata, Surprise, Magic Hurricane Lilly
These flowers bloom in late summer or early fall in the South. After the blooms fade, they produce green strap-shaped foliage that lasts through the winter. Bulbs reproduce resulting in clusters of blooms every year until they become too crowded. When they become crowded you can transplant to cover more areas.
The ideal environment is full sun or partial shade, well-drained, medium moisture, organically rich, sandy loam soil that dries out in the summer. These bulbs need to be planted and established before the first hard freeze. Alternatively, they can be stored indoors in an open container or paper bag and planted in the spring. You may also plant them in a container(s) if you prefer. They may not bloom well the first year after transplanting.
Spider Lilies are very hardy and easy to grow in USDA hardiness zones 6 -10. They are naturally pest resistant and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Plant with the neck of the bulb just below the soil surface. Planting too deep will decrease flowering.

yes id did buy and receive bamboo seeds from you. i planted same and now cautiously await some indication the sprouting will begin. we are in northern nj where it is quite cold so i am keeping the plantings in a planter system we use for seedlings. only time luck and patience will tell the ultimate story. if the seeds come to be small plants we will replant into pots until spring and after that we are guardedly optimistic. thanks for the request and service. stewart a farber
I do not have an indoor garden so I am waiting until spring to plant. I will try planting closer to Feb or March in small pods watering with spray bottle, and slowly introduce the plants to outdoor conditions.
