Crocosmia lucifer is one of the larger crocosmias, it has bayonet-shaped leaves that fan out from the base of the plant, similar to a gladiolus. In summer it sends up 3-4' tall, branching spikes of up to 40 bright-red, gladiolus-like, trumpet flowers about 1" wide.
They bloom from the base up making them a very long blooming flower that is excellent for cut flowers.
