These plants prefer warm & humid conditions. The leaves are dark green & glossy, & the spring flowers are beautiful! The Nutmeg is also deliciously fragrant.
The Nutmeg fruit has a green exterior that splits open when it’s ripe, revealing its edible red pulp that is called Mace which is used as a spice. Inside the pulp of each fruit is 1 large 1 - 1 1/2" nutmeg seed.
The Nutmeg seeds are called Nutmeg, a spice that is typically used ground or grated. Nutmeg is included in a huge number of dishes worldwide.
