FLOWERING TOBACCO MIX SEEDS
This species is usually grown as an annual, but it also makes an excellent potted plant during the winter months. Seeds should be surface sown in fertile, well-draining loam in partial shade to full sun.
They are best off being direct sown after any danger of frost or sown in trofts outside and transplanted to the ground when about two inches tall. They can also be started indoors for an early start. This also helps prevent them from being carried away by the wind or water.
Thin plants to about two feet apart, and cut off the flowering tops to increase leaf size. Remove dead flowers to encourage new ones to emerge. Regular fertilization is recommended. Germination typically takes 10-20 days.

GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
Sow indoors from February to April. A warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds.
Sow thinly on the surface of a tray of pre-watered compost. Place in a warm, light position. A temperature of 15-20C is ideal.
Keep the compost moist. The tray can be covered with clingfilm to preserve humidity, but removed when seedlings appear, usually in 14-28 days.
Transplant them 5cm apart to other trays when large enough to handle them. Always hold by a leaf, never by the stem.
Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out, May-June, 30cm apart, into well-drained soil, when frosts are over.
