Native to western North America, the Tiger Lily offers the landscape striking 3 ft tall perennial flowers that are lightly scented. Bloom's color is orange with black spots The "Garden Jewel of the Northwest" is often found growing from California all the way to Montana.
Columbian lilies grow in all soil types except for heavy clay and they do not require much care to provide absolutely stunning results. Lilium columbianum prefers acidic soil types but will grow in alkaline or neutral soils as well.
Space the lilies 2-3 ft apart and enjoy. These are a true lily perennial wildflower species, so they will reoccur in the same place over and over again for years!
Germination Procedure:
Sow in the summer for sprouts next spring. Otherwise, apply warm stratification for 3 months and then cold stratification for 2 months to simulate the changing seasons and thus break seed dormancy for sprouting.
