Veratrum Nigrum comes from the Melanthiaceae family. It is commonly known as Black Hellebore and is a perennial growing to 5 feet by 2 feet. It is native in S. Europe to E. Asia. It is in flower from August to September and is pollinated by Bees, Flies, Moths & Butterflies. It can grow in semi-shade or no shade and It prefers moist soil. Zones 5-9

Germination

Mix seeds and soil together in a ziplock bag. Write the name of the seed on the bag. Place in the refrigerator for 60 days. Seeds should be sown into well-drained, sandy compost and covered to their own depth with sand or grit. Place the seed tray in filtered light and keep moist. Seeds germinate very slowly and may take more than a year to germinate.
