Lemon Mint (Monarda Citriodora) is also commonly known as "Lemon Bee Balm" or "Purple Horsemint". This perennial will attract many butterflies and hummingbirds if you're a lover of such.
Part of the mint family, Lemon Mint has a very nice spicy citrus scent and will produce beautiful pinkish lavender flowers that are approximately 1.5"-2". Can be used in teas, potpourris, home-grown salves, and much much more
Lemon Bee Balm, or Monarda Citriodora, is a member of the mint family, Lamiaceae. It's a hardy perennial down to zone 5, but can be grown as an annual just about everywhere else. The leaves from this plant have a bright lemony-mint flavor and make an excellent tea or tonic.
Germination is usually within 10-15 days, maturity in approximately 90 days
I do not have an indoor garden so I am waiting until spring to plant. I will try planting closer to Feb or March in small pods watering with spray bottle, and slowly introduce the plants to outdoor conditions.
