This is a beautiful collector species not commonly available. The bright yellow coloration of the canes with the green stripe in the sulcus grooves adds a splash of color and is beautiful. This species can handle -10 degrees temperatures which makes it suitable as an evergreen bamboo for USDA climate zones 6 and warmer.
It grows quickly in zones 6, 7, and even tolerates the extreme heat in warmer zones 8 and 9. This bamboo can provide a dense screen in even the most unforgiving climates. In warm climates it grows quickly to 12 and 16 feet in height while remaining very bushy like with plenty of low growing limbs.
Maximum Height: 25 to 30 feet Diameter: 2 inches Hardiness: -10º F Recommended USDA zone 5 through 10.
I do not have an indoor garden so I am waiting until spring to plant. I will try planting closer to Feb or March in small pods watering with spray bottle, and slowly introduce the plants to outdoor conditions.
