This compact drought tolerant mix will produce pinks, rose, purple and blue and attracts hummingbirds. It does fantastic in containers and window boxes. It would be ideal for small space gardening like balconies or small decks. Penstemon will be the focal point of a planter and will serve as the "thriller" plant when designing a planter arrangement.
Penstemons are Hummingbird magnets! In fact, it could be the Hummingbird's favorite flower with its corolla shape that is ideally shaped for hummingbirds to extract nectar. They're also fantastic as borders and bedding plants with their showy flowers! Penstemons are a dry water condition tolerant plant and will do well in areas with very little rainfall like California.
