Fantastic conversational plant for children and adults alike. Responds to human touch by quickly folding up the leaves and snapping them shut. Also responds and closes at night. A tropical plant that does very well in shade and well under trees, bushes, and any shady little spot to fill in nicely.
Some sun and filtered light are fine. Likes to stay a bit moist. Has bright green delicate pretty leaves, and in addition, blooms pink silky delicate flowers in summer.
Stems are erect and as they age will trail and creep. Certain plant species undergo structural changes in a very short time span known as "rapid plant movement". Mimosa Pudica is one of the few plants that demonstrate this movement, by responding to human touch. Native to South and Central America.
