HEIRLOOM. The standard Cayenne pepper for many decades, this 1908 introduction is still the largest open-pollinated, heirloom hot pepper you can grow. Consistently produces 3" to 8" fruit.
This is a fast-growing, thin long shaped pepper. The peppers will come in mostly green but will ripen to red if left on the plant. The flesh is hot, spicy, tender, and fine-grained. A long-time favorite for many years for its reliability and fine flavor.
Seeds can be sown directly into the garden when soil is warm or started in containers and transplanted when several inches tall. Zones 3-10
