A lovely addition to any witch's garden with very showy, white flower clusters (that look great in a flower bouquet) on short to very tall stalks and beautiful, green, ornamental, fern-like leaves.
Hemlock is NOTpoisonous like substances that truly poison you, such as strychnine, nicotine, arsenic, plastic or bleach. It is a lovely medicinal herb that is more like valerian on steroids. It is such a super relaxant that it can stop the muscles that run the heart and lungs, but only through relaxation, not by poison, per se.
It really is NOT a poison in a technical sense at all, but was given this nickname to dissuade dumb people from eating it. (Poison oak is also not at all poisonous, but simply provokes an allergic reaction in about 60% of humans, so again, for all the uneducated and uninformed blokes on the road, it is called poison.)
It has legitimate medicinal uses when concocted by a skilled apothecary, of which there are very few left. Coniine is a valuable muscle relaxer that is not addictive and rarely deadly. But bitter as can be. Long term tolerance will develop.
